i hate it when people get all "things were so much better back then...", but i'm gonna drop some of that on you right now. this performance just straight up kills anything considered "childrens' tv" in the last 20 years.

fuck a purple dinosaur.

there are so many things to love about this clip -

that stevie doesn't water it down lyrically for the kids

that they jam out at the end...this is no shortened, edited, 2 minute, short-attention-span clip.

the kid on the fire escape just bringing the FUNK.

that, oddly enough, this song is a decent message for kids - learn about what you believe in. if you don't, you can be taken for a ride.

i know he's not the stevie of the 1970's, but i'm pretty bummed that i missed him when he was in town last week. i even had a ticket at my disposal to go....

It's funny how 8 years and declining sales changes people.

Jermaine Dupri, multi-platinum producer, entrepreneur, and Janet Jackson's current Ike Turner, has apparently gone from "Money Ain't A Thang" to worrying where his next meal is coming from. or so he would have you believe:

"Back in the day when people were excited about a record coming out
we'd put out a single to get the ball going and if we sold a lot of
singles that was an indication we'd sell a lot of albums. But we'd cut
the single off a few weeks before the album came out to get people to
wait and let the excitement build. When I put out Kris Kross we did
that. We sold two million singles, then we stopped. Eventually we sold
eight million albums!

Did consumers complain? Maybe so. But at what point does any
business care when a consumer complains about the money? Why do people
not care how we - the people who make music - eat? If they just want
the single, they gotta get the album."

Yo, JD? Marie Antoinette did it better. Hell, Michael Douglas in "Wall Street" did it better.

If you want us to buy the album.....QUIT MAKING TERRIBLE ALBUMS.
I stopped buying rap albums right around the time there was a skit in between every damn song. The novelty wore off shortly after De La Soul's "3 Feet High and Rising". That was 1989. It's now almost 20 years later. If I wanted to see you act, I'd watch your movie. If I wanted to hear you talk, I'd listen to an interview.

If I wanted to hear an impression of the Insane Clown Posse (a "group" I cared nothing about in 1999 and even less today) sucking some manager's dick, I'd buy "The Slim Shady Album".

Rap. Or shut the fuck up.

Does the absolute MOUNTAIN of statistical evidence showing that consumers would rather buy the single, and offering them the single to purchase ends up equating to profits mean nothing to you?

Does the present situation, wherein iTunes has the ability to call the shots because the music industry fucked things up so royally for so long, mean absolutely nothing to you?
Does the evidence in loss of sales, the proliferation of partial albums on every peer to peer application since Napster mean ANYTHING?

You're past your prime, out of touch, callous, and laughable.

And really....is "Totally Krossed Out" the artistic statement you want to hang your hat on here?

I'd put "I Missed The Bus" up there with "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" as an artistic statement any day of the week.
